The latest on the CBI's work in response to the latest overseas trade developments, including the UK-US Economic Prosperity Deal and the new EU-UK Common Understanding.
There's been more change on the global stage since our May trade and international update - though this month looks more positive and provides more certainty for firms who have been struggling with the economic chaos.
Standing up for free and fair trade
The government unveiled several major announcements, including a UK-US Economic Prosperity Deal and a new Free Trade Agreement with India. Both of these deals are very much welcome and send a clear message: the UK is a strong advocate for free and fair trade and a reliable partner with whom to do business.
We've been working with officials to highlight members' reactions to the US deal and discussed the next steps and timelines with Ambassador Mandelson while in Washington two weeks ago. As negotiations continue for the next stage of the process, including on a tech partnership, the voice of business will be essential to make this a success.

Resetting the EU-UK relationship
The start of this month also saw the inaugural EU-UK Summit in London - a chance to fire the starting pistol on a strategic partnership. The newly announced 'Common Understanding' marks a refreshed commitment from both sides to fully implement the Trade and Cooperation Agreement, consolidate existing cooperation on fishing and energy, and strengthen relations across a number of areas.
Ahead of the Summit, we wrote a joint letter with BusinessEurope to Prime Minister Starmer and President von der Leyen to raise industry's views, which we also publicised in an opinion piece in the Financial Times. In both we raised the points set out in our new report, 'Building Bridges'.
Looking ahead, we'll be working with officials in the Cabinet Office and relevant departments as they look to build on the broad commitments made in areas like professional qualifications, business mobility, defence and agri-food. We'll also be aligning closely with BusinessEurope to ensure both sides remain committed to delivering for business.
