On last Wednesday’s Daily Coronavirus Webinar, Katherine Bennett, SVP, Airbus in the UK, joined us to talk about leading a business through the pandemic and discussed a 19-point internal checklist they had developed to ensure employees’ safe working, from their commute to internal business practices.
The checklist, created in partnership with their trade unions, and complemented with a 10 point daily confirmation list, has ensured Airbus operations respect social distancing principles at all times, helping to keep people safe. The 19 point list identifies three key areas:
- The facility entrance
- The manufacturing hangar
- The stations.
The document also includes a process for managers to carry out each day – the 10 point check - to ensure these measures are implemented and tracked.
Getting factories operating in a safe and controlled way will be essential to reopening supply chains so the rest of the economy can prosper. Each business will have their own process and regulations they will need to adhere to, but this guide may help your business to either remain open or potentially reopen.
Airbus in the UK has been successfully operating throughout the crisis with employee safety being of paramount importance. Read the full checklist to see if an adaptation of these processes could help your business recommence operations.
