EU and US make steps towards a rapprochement, but challenges remain
At the EU-US Summit on 15 June both sides gave signals that they were willing to put aside past disputes in order to tackle climate change, foster a sustainable global recovery, and collaborate to address rising challenges from China. Restricting imports of Chinese steel is one area that both sides were keen to work together on. The EU and US agreed to extend the Airbus-Boeing tariff suspension period for five years.
