Business Engagement at the World Trade Organisation Public Forum
Find out more about the CBI's engagement at the WTO Public Forum taking place from 27 to 30 September 2022.
The WTO’s Public Forum is the WTO’s largest annual outreach event, providing a platform for participants to discuss the latest developments in world trade. The forum will bring together over 1,500 representatives from civil society, academia, business, the media, governments, parliamentarians and inter-governmental organisations.
This year's WTO Public Forum will look at how trade can contribute to post-pandemic economic recovery. The Forum will examine, in particular, how trade rules can be strengthened, and government policies improved to create a more resilient, sustainable and inclusive trading system. Find more details on the programme here.
The CBI is attending the the Public Forum to meet with businesses and stakeholders, as well as hosting a session on green trade and services, alongside the Confederation of Indian Industry.
About the CBI's session
We are leading an exciting business panel to explore how to make global trade more sustainable and achieve shared climate goals.
Ahead of COP27, the session will focus on promoting trade in green goods and services globally, in order to drive a sustainable and inclusive recovery. Environmental sustainability is at the heart of enterprise competitiveness, and there are real opportunities to be won from trade in climate friendly technologies.
The session will bring business from the UK and India to specifically look at regulatory harmonisation to promote international standards of environmental goods, as well as exploring how to tackle market access barriers to trade in environmental services.
