Government's final changes leave critical issues unresolved - CBI urges further engagement before Royal Assent
On Tuesday 4 March the government tabled its final amendments to the Employment Rights Bill - please see here for the government's press release outlining the changes. Overall, while the government is keen to say that it has responded to business feedback, our initial assessment is that the amendments have not moved forward most of the key concerns businesses have about the Bill. We've not offered the government a supportive quote, and have issued our own in response, highlighting concerns (please see below). We are urging the government to reconsider and respond to business feedback before Royal Assent. As work begins on questions of implementation - such as how new rules for probation dismissals will work in practice - we'll continue to work with our Employment Rights Bill Working Group and will use it to update members on relevant developments.
