With increasing business and government focus on finding solutions to better working lives and productivity, CBI Scotland has set out four steps businesses can take to improve workplace health and wellbeing.
The argument for prioritising health and wellbeing in the workplace is strong. Not only does it improve company performance and productivity with staff being happier and healthier, it can also help businesses to retain and attract talent. Prioritising workplace health and wellbeing is becoming more important to firms and government, with a spotlight being shone on the importance of mental health and financial wellbeing in addition to physical health. But more has to be done.
A recent survey by CBI, Bupa and HCA Healthcare found great examples of UK firms leading the way in proactively supporting and promoting the health and wellbeing of their staff. However, it also found that most businesses do not yet know how to realise the full potential of investing in workplace health and wellbeing.
