A new CBI report outlines how business and government can work together to ensure the opportunities of international trade and investment are realised.
As far back as 2017, the CBI called on the government to set up a formal system for business engagement on trade. This has now been set up by the Department for International Trade (DIT). The CBI also sits on DITs Strategic Trade Advisory Group, and many CBI members sit on the sector-focused Trade Advisory Groups which sit beneath that. The CBI has welcomed this initiative, and a new CBI report calls for it to be the foundation for an even closer partnership with business. This will be crucial as negotiations progress towards trade-off territory and the hard decisions are being made.
