Confidence, certainty, and a clear plan to get Britain building
Ahead of the publication of the 10-year Infrastructure Strategy in June, the CBI has responded to a working paper with businesses' views on what should be prioritised within the strategy to get Britain building for the future.
The strategy is a chance to kickstart a new era for infrastructure policy, with a long-term plan providing the clarity, consistency, and longevity needed to give businesses the confidence to invest.
The CBI's response sets out where the strategy should focus, with businesses wanting to see a forward-looking digital pipeline placed front and centre, outlining what the government will deliver over the 10-year period.
Businesses also want to see the newly formed NISTA (National Infrastructure Service and Transformation Authority) play a convening role, helping to join the dots across Whitehall and integrate best practice in infrastructure planning. Moreover, NISTA also has an important role in building a long-term skills plan that embraces innovation.
