Joe Oliver
Economist
Joe is an Economist within CBI Economics. During his year working within CBI Economics, he has mapped areas of high net zero economic activity for the Energy and Climate Intelligence Unit and employed innovative modelling techniques to determine the economic contributions of niche sectors such as AI and Quantum and of high-growth, innovative companies. Currently, Joe is working with a private airport to evidence the impact of private business travel on the UK economy. He is also supporting the modelling and analysis in a project with a high street bank to identify high growth clusters supporting high quality and productive jobs. Throughout his time at the CBI, he has also lent support to the CBI’s policy teams, carrying out policy costings and economic analysis to support the CBI’s budget submissions.
Prior to joining CBI, he was a Statistician at the Government Statistical Service, processing, analysing and disseminating Universal Credit (UC) data as part of the Universal Credit Official Statistics Team. He was heavily involved with User Engagement, where he examined and presented data to internal and external stakeholders and actioned improvements to the team’s outputs.
