Ted Cranston
Economist
Ted is an Economist within CBI Economics. In his time at the CBI, he has successfully delivered a project for Innovate UK, employing desk-based research, international benchmarking and business surveys to better understand skills challenges facing R&D intensive business, guiding policy recommendations. As part of a decarbonisation project for a multinational air purifier manufacturer, he has built a bespoke clean air model to comprehensively assess economic impacts of improving indoor air quality in a number of international markets and environments. Ted is also undertaking research, analysis and modelling in a project for a large retail bank, identifying potentially high-growth and productivity clusters that provide quality jobs in the UK’s regions.
In addition to commercial consulting work, Ted frequently contributes to the CBI’s policy work through economic analysis and costings in relation to CBI budget submissions. He graduated from the University of Leeds with BSc (Hons) and MSc in Economics, with particular academic focus on the macroeconomic drivers of environmental trends and mechanisms in UK and international context.
