PEOPLE AND SKILLS NETWORK (MIDLANDS)

Despite some easing in the labour market, employee retention is still a challenging issue for most organisations.

In Freeths’ recent Employment Survey, 81% of businesses reported challenges in recruiting employees.  The two most popular reasons given were a lack of people with the right skills and salary expectations being too high.  The economic conditions mean that salary increases aren’t always the answer, or possible.

The Freeths survey revealed that as a result of these challenges, employee retention was the top priority for HR professionals in 2024.

This People and Skills Network roundtable sponsored by Freeths will explore case studies of retention initiatives including flexible working – the balance between company requirements and employee expectations, employee health and wellbeing and Employee Value Proposition.

We will be joined by:

  • Matt McBride, Employment Partner, Freeths, will be discussing the outcomes of Freeths’ recent Employment Survey, and the methods that it revealed are being adopted by employers to maximise employee retention.
  • Ben Horner, former HR Director and Assistant General Counsel (UK & ROI) at Walgreens Boots Alliance, will be sharing his experience of employee retention strategies.
  • Darius Matusiak, Managing Director, Macildowie, will give insights on the latest trends, best practices, and tools for attracting and retaining talent.

This is an opportunity to share best practise with peers, exchange ideas, and gain practical solutions to enhance employee retention and embrace the future of work.

YOU’LL PARTICULARLY BENEFIT FROM THIS EVENT IF YOU ARE:

  • HR Director or equivalent
  • Head of HR
  • Lead of a functional HR Specialism (Learning, ED&I, Talent, OD, Reward)
  • CXO with a passion for people
