Women in Leadership (Midlands)

Join CBI at the Cosy Club in Nottingham for an unforgettable afternoon dedicated to female empowerment, inspirational women and breaking barriers in the workplace. We're thrilled to welcome Abi Tierney, CEO, Welsh Rugby Union, who will share her powerful journey of how, in this and previous roles, she has overcome adversity and tackled workplace culture and bullying head on.

In a world where gender inequality persists, this event aims to ignite conversations and spark change. In this fireside chat, Abi will delve into strategies for navigating the challenges of a male-dominated work environment and talk about her own experiences of combating inequality in the workplace and on the sports pitch.

Abi Tierney, CEO, Welsh Rugby Union:

In August 2023, Abi Tierney made history by becoming the first female chief executive of the Welsh Rugby Union (WRU) - the first female to hold such a role in the Northern Hemisphere. As well as leading Welsh Rugby, Abi is also on the Board of the Six Nations, the British and Irish Lions and a member of the World Rugby Council. Her appointment marks a significant milestone for women in sports leadership.

Before joining Welsh Rugby, Abi was the Director General, HM Passport Office and UK Visas and Immigration at the Home Office. Her earlier career spanned public services (Central Government, NHS and Local Government) and private sector leadership (IBM and Serco).
