Andy Burnham on Heathrow Expansion
09 June 2018
Responding to the Mayor of Greater Manchester’s article in the Guardian on Heathrow expansion, Matthew Fell, CBI Chief UK Policy Director, said:
“Infrastructure investment – whether in the North or South of England – is vital for productivity growth, which raises pay and people's living standards.
“Expanding Heathrow, which will help all parts of the UK compete on the world stage, and improving rail connections across the North of England is not an either/or choice – Britain needs both.
“It is also right that we make the best use of our existing runways across the country. A truly global Britain will need increased connections and routes from the whole of the UK, now and for the future.
“Further delays on projects vital for the UK’s future prosperity will ultimately help no-one."
