CBI responds to Norfolk and Suffolk devolution announcement
09 December 2022
Richard Tunnicliffe, CBI East of England Director, said:
“The CBI has been clear about the business benefits devolution can bring to the East of England, and welcomes deals being agreed for Norfolk and Suffolk.
“While today’s economic environment is a tough one, giving the region more control over infrastructure, skills and regeneration can boost business confidence, unleash fresh creativity and dynamism, and unlock private investment needed to grow its visibility and key industries to create new jobs.
“Directly-elected leaders will also help to bring accountability and a focal point for businesses to work with. Their local expertise can ensure public money is best spent to match the needs of businesses and communities, and importantly, ensure there is continued collaboration at the broader Anglian region, which is essential to attracting long-term inward investment at scale.
“Our members have supported discussions every step of the way. They now stand ready to help make the East of England an exemplar of ambitious, long-term collaboration between the public, private and voluntary sectors.”
