CBI Wales responds to latest news on local lockdowns
21 September 2020
Ian Price, CBI Wales Director, said:
“Businesses in the affected areas know that public health must come first and have been doing all they can to keep staff and customers safe, whether in pubs, shops, factories or offices.
“While the news will come as a bitter disappointment for many firms in these areas, the Welsh Government cannot stand by as infection rates rise.
“Taking action now can help to maintain confidence and avoid further restrictions on businesses and households in the months ahead.
“With the number of new local restrictions on the rise, the UK and Welsh governments must take an urgent look at business support packages for the autumn, including a successor to the furlough scheme.”
