Our response to G7 climate ministerial communiqué

Rain Newton-Smith, CBI Chief Economist, said:
“The twin crises of climate and biodiversity loss are a global challenge that requires a coordinated international response in partnership with business. That’s why it’s important to see G7 Ministers coming together to reaffirm commitments and agree new ways and targets to meet the challenge head on, reflecting the recommendations set out by the B7.
“The G7 communiqué delivers the ambition, urgency and decisive action that businesses, consumers and others have been calling for ahead of COP26. Business stands ready to play its part by working with governments around the world to drive decarbonisation and achieve net zero commitments.
“G7 nations should prioritise national policies to support the development of markets that value biodiversity, natural environments and natural carbon sinks, and nature-positive business activity.”
