Our latest economic forecast
12 December 2025
CBI Principal Economist, Martin Sartorius, looks at the road ahead for the UK economy.
The UK economy is expected to continue growing at a moderate pace over the next couple of years, with GDP rising by 1.4% in 2025, 1.3% in 2026, and 1.5% in 2027. Household spending is set to remain modest, as real incomes growth slows and cautious behaviours persist. Business investment also stays weak amid soft demand conditions, higher labour costs, and elevated uncertainty.
